Now that you've learned about the Copy Foundations, here you'll discover a worksheet to help guide you as you begin to look critically at copy. I'm also sharing how the foundations work in action on real-world examples, which are also linked in the Google Drive folder below.

Through this video, you'll discover an inside look at several linked examples and get a feel for what it's like to create a swipe file, a popular tool for collecting inspiration (but NOT imitation) as we see copy out in the world on our screens, on billboards, and even on our favorite products.

Lesson Two: building a swipe file

Now that you've learned about the Copy Foundations, take some time to create your own copy swipe file. When you see a strong piece of copy (something that is compelling to you), add it to your swipe file. I recommend creating a folder in Google Drive alongside your course materials.

Try to find at least 1 piece of copy, whether it's a web page, tagline, email. Feel free to post it in our Slack group or bring it to our next call. Let's talk about what makes it work!

Bonus: if you see a bad piece of copy, share it with the group and let's talk about it. Why doesn't it work? Could it be better with some changes?
