Welcome to module 4! In this module, I’ll be going behind the scenes of how I do SEO keyword research for both myself and for my clients so you can apply the same tactics to your search. I will show you how I use Moz, a keyword tool that I highly recommend. I’ll be sharing the keyword spreadsheet I use to capture keywords and make meaning of what I find so I can use the best possible words based on the data.

You can get a great 30 day free trial which should suffice for this section of the program, where you’ll get 100 queries to find your keywords, compare with competitors, and see what people are searching for. This isn’t the only keyword tool you can use, however. I’ll also recommend some other tools you can use! Also something to note: at this time, I will be focusing on how to do SEO keyword research for the static pages on your website, not the long-tail keywords you may use for blog posts. That is something we’ll be doing in the content strategy and blogging module.

For now, I’d like for you to focus all your efforts on your website pages and think of that as a foundation from which everything else will build from. For heatmaps, I recommend a tool called Hotjar. Although there are paid plans, you can get the info and insight you need from a completely free plan.
